Reply:Watch the movie Doctor Zhivago. It is a beautiful film in the winter. If money is truly no object, you can purchase thin trees, (not sure the type) without leaves and spray paint them white and string them with white lights. Do all of your linens, napkins, chair covers in white. Bring in a snow blower with real or faux snow. Ice sculptures and ice blocks for decoration. Your flowers should be the darkest red roses you can find and they should be everywhere. Your cake should look like a Faberge' egg. You can string jewels all over like the Russian Czar palace. Gold tones throughout. I believe that Joan Rivers daughter had a wedding themed this way, if you could find photos, that would be helpful. It was the most beautiful room I have ever seen.
Reply:my bf had one with another guy and a girl all combined it was winter wonderland and it looked reallyy good. you can go to cheap party stores and get good decorations, and even walmart and the dollar store since itll be around christmas. you might have some decorations with you (huge snowflakes to hang, those light up reindeer). mine was paris. my friends was hollywood. what do you like? i got a oriental trading and shindigz magazine and found a theme from there i really liked. try that
Reply:U should to like a make over theme

like go to the beauty salon get nails done, get hair fixed make -up all that stuff, and then go to the mall mabey hit on some cute guys and get some fun dresses and like have each girl at the mall get to have there own fashion shoot and every bosy would love u for it and it would be so much fun!!!!

or go get a car a really nice car

hope i helped
Reply:winter wonderland (white clothing, fake snow) or victorian theme(big hair big dresses) or 50's (tie dies and bee hives)
Reply:You could make the theme Funky winter. Then have 50 people where black and other 50 where white. IT would be

so cool

`95 firebird in the winter....?

i drive a pontiac firebird and i live in wisconsin. since i could only afford one car i had to pick a sweet one even if it was unsafe for winter. i put sandbags in the back but they didnt help much last year.. any suggestions how to make it safer for driving in the snow?

also i know im an idiot for driving this car in the winter, ive come to that realization already.

`95 firebird in the winter....?
Well, front wheel drive cars have an advantage because the weight of the motor is over the wheels. You've countered that with the sandbags, provided you have enough sandbags. As the guy above mentioned, you can let some air out of the tires. That will help some. The other major thing though is your tire tread. If you have tires that have a poor snow pattern, you won't be going anywhere regardless of the weight. This is even true for front-wheel drive cars. The best choice for your car is a good all season radial. That way you don't have to change them as the seasons change. Plus, a big knobby snow tire would look pretty funny on the back of a Firebird! Remember also you don't have much ground clearence in a Firebird. So, if the snow is very deep, you probably won't get through it. I had an older Camaro, and by having a good set of tires and some weight in the back, it did just fine in the snow as long as it wasn't bottoming out. One other thing to remember is to shift to neutral when stopping, in snow not ice, and to ease into a takeoff. If you gun it, your tires probably won't hold either.
Reply:the best thing to do is get another set of cheap rims or steel wheels and get some good winter tires on your car. I use the Bridgestone Blizzacks and they work awesome. Make sure you get all 4. I know a lot of people that only get 2 and that won't really help you out.
Reply:On snow %26amp; ice a skinny tire with course tread pattern will help you out. Get a pair of used rims ( in good shape ) for max. value. =^ )
Reply:Keep your tires aired up. Colder weather condenses the air and you lose a few pounds of pressure. Letting more out in cold weather can cause a dangerous situation.

As said above, buy some cheapo wheels on ebay and have good winter tires or studs put in them.
Reply:Below is a link to a thread over @ LS1Tech.com. Where some of the guys talk about driving their f-body in the winter weather up North and mention using the blizzaks tires.

Then, there's another link of a search I did on the 'winter driving' over @ LS1Tech.

Good luck!
Reply:lower the air pressure in your tires just a little bit not to much that might help a littlt bit.

How about going ice skating? It would be manageable with up to about 20 people, and a lot of fun. Then cake and hot cocoa afterwards? Some skating rinks will give you a little private party area for that.
Reply:check into a nice suite in a nice hotel with your friends and hire people to give you makeovers. then kiss the guys who have been patienty wating
Reply:Go skating. Crystal, is that you?
Reply:my friends and I had our sweet 16's last year. here are a few of the things we did:

My nose clogs, throat irritates when i take sweets and fruits in winter ,why?
The establishment of allergic reactions are usually multifactorial. For example, A and B are brothers and allergic to hay pollen. Both went to a farm. A sneezed five times, and B sneezed many times and his nose got clogged. We say that A is less sensitive to hay pollen than B.

Two weeks later, A visited the same farm alone. Now he got clogged nose too. There are two possibilities: On his second visit, the density of hay pollen in the farm was higher, or his health condition was weaker. This means, the threshold to make the allergic reaction occur was lower.

Now going back to your question, you might be allergic to different kinds of fruits. If you eat them in summers, nothing happens. In winters, however, your threshold is lowered by cold temperature. Eating those same fruits, your nose clogs.

Finding a unique winter perfume?

So! My girlfriend and I are looking for her signature scent. She wants something that's unique, but not so strange that she can't wear it often.

We're not specifically looking for anything woodsy, citrusy, etc. As long as we like it and it's not in abundant use, it's all good.

Now, what we like ranges a lot. L'Eau Par Kenzo was good, but needed to be a bit stronger. The middle and base notes of Black Cashmere was fantastic. (We ordered a sample) She loves Fahrenheit on me, and the very beginning of Midnight Poison.

What we did NOT like was Midnight Poison's middle, and the middle and end of Pure Poison. Also, some of the mature scents like Shalimar don't work very well. (She's 19)

So, yeah, please do throw out some suggestions! Something for the winter, something unique, something not cloyingly sweet and/or too mature. Thanks!

Finding a unique winter perfume?
Victorias Secret Heavenly or Lacoste Touch of Pink. These both wear really well and last all day.
Reply:There is a Shalimar light...and I adore that perfume. It's much different than the original. Most women who've worn it and I've spoken to have really enjoyed it. Its marketed for a younger woman, but it's nothing like most of the basic perfumes now at the counters. She might like a niche fragrance, there harder to find and not sold in most department stores. www.luckyscent.com

has alot in that category. Sephora's website might be able to help you too. There is a fragrance finder there.

Reply:I like Burberry London, Live %26amp; Luxe by JLo, Gucci but my favorite perfume is Chole Narcissus

It took me a while to fall in love with this perfume, I found it smell very strong at first, years later I tried on this perfume again, I found it smell wonderful, so memorable and unforgivable.

Sweet 16 invitation wording??

My sweet 16th is in June (Winter here in Australia) and i'm having about 20 people over for a big bonfire. There will be marshmallows and hotdogs, and we're getting a karaoke machine. I live on quite alot of land and the times will be around 3pm-11pm. I just need help wording the invitation. Any ideas?

Sweet 16 invitation wording??
Jane Doe would like to invite you to share in this special day, the coming of her sixteenth birthday. June ____ at 3:00p.m.

It does not have to be super fancy. I hate to say it but people don't hang on them. My husband and I made our wedding invitations. Just buy card stock (like construction paper) and get cute with the glitter or if you have a theme make the insert inside a certain shape. (we put all of our information on an arrowhead shaped piece of paper and spray glued that to the inside.) Have fun.
Reply:Because you are an important person in my life, I would love it if you would share my 16th birthday celebration with me. The celebration begins at 3:00 PM at my house. There'll be food, karaoke-ing and tons of fun. Please say you'll come!

or you could have a circus theme. like have cotton candy and stuff. and popcorn. and just decorate for the theme. have circus.

or maybe an under the sea theme. have fish nets everywhere. and put blue lights in where ther normal ones would be. have special blue drinks.

Sweet, affectionate, young, neutered male cat keeps trying to have sex with our old female cat.?

We adopted a six-month-old male cat into our home last winter. He is about the sweetest, friendliest cat I've known. Our female is about 14 and can be very sweet with humans when she wants to be, but pretty much acts like an "old lady" cat. He remains indoors while we'll let her out if the weather's nice. My wife has had her most of the female cat's life and let her out throughout her life, but we want him to be an "indoor" cat--we have a huge house and he seems perfectly content with this.

For some reason, the male cat routinely seems to be trying to have sex with her despite having been neutered (he does still have his testicles). In spite of the fact that he's pretty friendly about it, she hates it and fights him off in spite of the fact that he's twice her size. We think it's really stressing her out as she's skinny from not eating as much. Is there anything we can do? Would a squirt bottle help in this case?

Sweet, affectionate, young, neutered male cat keeps trying to have sex with our old female cat.?
Oh, that's a dominance thing. He'll outgrow it- and yes, water bottles and a firm NO work very well more often than not.

The elderly female...losing weight could be a sign of thyroid problem- VERY common in old cats. She may not be eating as much because she's sick.

Could also be start of a kidney problem.

Better go to the vet's.
Reply:He is not trying to have sex with her - he is just showing dominance toward her by pinning her down.

Go to: http://spiritessence.com and read about using flower essences with cats and other animals. Dr. Hovfe has a "Bully Remedy" you could try with him to get him to "lay off" your other cat.

It costs under $20 and the flower essences are always worth a try as they can be very effective in correcting unwanted behavior.
Reply:I have had a similar situation. We got a male cat and he thought he was the ruler of the house and started to "attack" my 2 female cats. One of the females would hiss and run away and hide. The other female would just take it while the male pinned her down and started to nibble/bite her neck. It is simply him trying to dominate, not really to have sex with her.

My male dog has been fixed and he still tries to hump our fixed female dog. The vet told us it is still in their nature to do this but they don't exactly know what they're doing so we should just ignore it.
Reply:Give the squirty bottle a go, but gently. It's true that he's doing something you don't want him to do, but a) it's instintive, not intentional, and b) he's not doing it out of malice or a desire to cause harm.

Just the same, your female cat certainly has the right to her own privacy, and not to be randomly humped! ;) Maybe your male needs more toys, or more playtime. That could be it, perhaps.

I will share a bizarre story about a neutered male I had who was around the same age. He was a humper, too. Only he humped my other male cat! :) Yikes! I got him a rainbow collar, and played some show tunes for him, and then after awhile he stopped trying to mount his older brother.

I'm joking about the show tunes :) but otherwise, the story is true! Even after the neutering surgery has been performed, some cats retain the compulsion to hump. My guess is that it's due to the playful whimsy of his youth. A little tactful use of the squirty bottle ought to get him right in shape.

Best of luck to you!

Chihuahua in winter.?

Dose a chihuahua need a sweeter in the winter time?

Chihuahua in winter.?
Chihuauas are small dogs (obviously) lol and can lose body heat quickly in cold weather. They just dont have the body size needed to generate enough heat to stay warm. I have chi's that even in the house during winter, preferred to wear a sweater just to be comfy. If you are letting your dog out only to go potty then you could get by without a sweater but if you are letting your dog out for prolonged periods (longer than a few minutes), then I'd say yes, definitely a sweater if you are in a colder climate. Even my german shepherds wear coats sometimes if it's just too cold out. Make sure to get a sweater that has straps to go around their hind legs or you end up with it all up around their neck! LOL and pee openings for boys :P
Reply:depends on where you live.
Reply:Yes, because Chihuahuas are very delicate and need warmth! I have 3 and they are always next to me because they are cold with the a/c on! Imagine during winter!
Reply:They are not as delicate as you would think. Certainly no sweater indoors, a blanket maybe for sleeping and resting. If you are putting chihuahua out in cold weather for long periods of time, then maybe. But I find most people just do this for cosmetic reasons. They like to dress up a chihuahua like its a baby or something, remember its a dog first.

Do not misstake chihuahua closeness to you as them being cold or even their shaking (common to those dogs). If you treat a chihuahua as if it was delicate, it will act that way
Reply:Yes, if you live somewhere that gets cold - or even chilly since they are so tiny. I think most short-haired dogs don't mind wearing a coat in cold weather. You could even get your dog a snowsuit if he gets really cold. I got one for my dog at Petco. It covers their front legs, back legs, back, and part of their underside. There is a cutout on the underside and butt so they can go potty. Hope this info. helps!
Reply:yes yes yes %26amp; YES!!! if your little pooch is going out side to potty or play they should for sure be bundled up just like you! they dont handle extreme weather well
Reply:Also, they cannot handle the cold, so it is recommended that they be kept inside. If you bring them outside, you should put a warm sweater on them.
Reply:depends on the where u live and the temps there my dog allways wears a sweeter but thats just me. she is so small and gets very cold.
Reply:If you are living in a very cold place then it is necessary.
Reply:Any time that YOU need a sweater or jacket, your Chihuahua does..

Reply:Dogs with short fur need a sweater and should not be left outside very long in the winter. If the climate is really cold, use a dog coat. There are lots of them made with fleece. Penn Plax makes them.
Reply:Yes, they become chilled easily and they don't like the cold. You might also consider getting them booties to protect their feet. Chihuahuas are a warm-climate breed.
Reply:Many people put sweaters on their chihuahuas in the winter but we don't put them on ours. Our dogs don't like them. If you live where it is really cold and you take your dog places with you, you could buy her some sweaters.
Reply:NO!!! dont ever put clothe on your dog its really mean dogs dont like that stuff its really cruel just wrap around a blanket if it gets cold.
Reply:I live in Kauai, Hawaii, so, no, my chihuahua does not need a sweater in the winter.
Reply:yes, absolutely. they are not made for a cool weather like huskies. keep he born or can get sick.

Sweet feed and sheep?

Does anyone know if 12% sweet feed has too much copper to give a sheep? I know i have to be careful of the copper content and everyone says I can't give my sheep horse feed, but i don't feed my horses pelleted stuff, i feed them the 12% sweet feed in the winter and an oat, corn, sweet feed mix in the summer. I'm just wondering if its okay to give a sheep that stuff cause I don't always have the time to drive out and get sheep feed.

Sweet feed and sheep?
12% Sweet feed is usually a feed stores personal mixture. You need to read the label for cooper content. Most likely you are fine with the sweet feed for sheep but call the feed store. Also, we have all been told that "cooper kills sheep" but this is not a total truth. Years ago we fed sheep cooper and they didn't die. The cooper scare came about due to special areas of the US that had high cooper in the soil which poisoned sheep and therefore adding cooper to the feed killed even more sheep. This is especially true of area of Michigan...Don't know about your area's content.
Reply:Honestly the best is to just buy the sheep feed, some sheep don't have a problem witht he sweet feed and others do I'm not sure if it's the different brands or what the case may be. Better to be safe than sorry I always say! take care!

Sweet Sixteen party favor ideas?

For my birthday, the party favors are sweatshirts. On the front will say, "Winter Wonderland, Amy's Sweet Sixteen, Date." I want something written on the back, but don't know what? I was thinking "Snow Patrol," but I looked it up, and that's a band?! Any ideas would help!

If you don't know what I mean by these sayings, somone had a camp-themed party and on the front was "Camp Blahblah, Annie's Birthday, Date" and on the back was "STAFF" (like the camp staff). Hope this example helps.

How about Bibles...
Reply:No one is ever going to wear a sweat shirt promoting YOUR birthday party. Try being less self absorbed and egotistical.
Reply:Cute idea! I think you could go with Snow Patrol anyway. Not everyone knows who they are. Or you could use Storm Patrol, Ice Patrol, Ski Patrol, Ski Instructor, Skating Instructor, Snow Management, or Ski Lift Operator.
Reply:I think Snow Patrol is still pretty good. It fits perfect with your theme. Besides it'll be something to talk about if someone does know who they are. Those who do or don't will get the idea.
Reply:Black Ice Management!

I successfully grew 2 types of sweet peas this year and now I'm wondering how to care for them over winter

I want to know if I should cut the plants down this fall or wait until the spring. I also want to know if I should "harvest" the seed pods or should I let them pop open on their own on the plants?

I successfully grew 2 types of sweet peas this year and now I'm wondering how to care for them over winter
this fall? are you on the right site its autumn over here and you dont care for sweet peas its what us brits call an annual plant it it flowers sets its own seed then dies that's your lot possible to keep seed but will not come true to colour of original have a nice day
Reply:Sweet peas are annuals (not perennials), hence the plant is finished after one year of blooming. Pull the whole plants out and discard. You would be better off planting new seeds early again next spring. You can keep the seeds from this year's plants and plant them next spring, but they might not be as showy as they were this year.
Reply:I'm not sure what you're after. Pea plants aren't perennials, they're dead meat anyway.

Harvest the peas, save some to plant. Let them dry out and store them in a paper bag in a dry place over the winter. They don't need to be in the pod, but if you take them out do it gently so as not to damage the seeds. Otherwise, you can let them partially dry in the pods before you take them out.

In the spring, pretty early on because peas are an early garden species, plant them in a well-tilled soil about an inch deep and about 4 inches apart.

Will sweet potato vine thrive indoors through the winter?

Yes it will grow but not as rapid as it will during the spring, Keep by a window were it can get some sun and water it regularly, By spring you will have a beautiful plant

Will sweet potato vine thrive indoors through the winter?
yeah I had mine inside. Just remember to water and give it some light, but keep away from the cold!!
Reply:Potted up and cared for as a house plant it will continue to thrive.
Reply:is it winter where you are ? summer just started last week here
Reply:Try the forums at http://www.suburbangarden.com/ they are geared more toward this type of questions
Reply:Definitely. In fact, I took a cutting from mine last year and stuck it in water with the intention of potting it, but I never did. It lived in water all winter and went back outside (with its new root mass) this spring. I think they can survive most anything.
Reply:Yes just make sure you give it plenty of sunlight. good luck.
Reply:I don't think it will.
Reply:It wont thrive but it will live. Keep it in a sunny window.

A kind of winter muskmelon with a yellow rind and sweet , juicy flesh?

This time of year you will find the Canary Melons from Argentina and Chile, they are nice, a bit less sweet and have fewer seeds.

I like them for a Xmas fruit cup, with berries, and a few orange and grapefruit sections. Just look for one's with an unblemished skin, have a nice smell and sound hollow when tapping the stem end.

What should i do for my sweet 16 it is in the winter?

I'm not sure if i want to have a big party because i cant seem to find a place . But then i want something that i remember 10 years from now. So if you have any ideas please say something.

What should i do for my sweet 16 it is in the winter?
Have a normal party, but then have an after party in the hot tub with a few friends that's what did anyway. It was much better then the normal party, just do an all night-er, especially if you add liquid courage to the mix.
Reply:have an ice-skating party

Try a Mardi Gras style Party.

i know its kind of tacky, but everyone loves it...have a luau!

i mean but do it the fun way, my birthday is in feb and a few years ago we had a luau, the whole house was covered in those hanging palm trees, and everyone got good lays, not the plastic kind and we had everyone wear bathing suits and just cranked up the heat. punch and coconuts and fresh pineapple and fruit trays made everyone forget it was so cold outside and you could totally sex it up a bit now that you're going to be sweet sixteen.

but honestly take it from someone who had a CRAZY sweet sixteen do exactly what you want and just have fun! everything will fall into place when you just let it be and don't forget to just look supppppppppperrrrrr good...i mean you're the STAR of the party!

TELL ME WHAT KIND OF SWEET SIXTEEN AND I CAN GET YOU AN AMAZING THEME THRU MY EVENT PLANNER.

Kidding. You could make it into a luau (the Hawaiian type thing) or... the Trojan War LMAO and you could show up in this hollow wooden horse :D

Hollywood

(name on the marquee as "now showing", posters starring you and your friends, clap board place cards, etc)

Masquarade Ball party

(like the scene in the movie Labryith when she's dancing in custom with David Bowie).

Murder Mystery Party

Chronicles of Narnia or Snow Queen party

Roller blading party with pizza and boys.
Reply:life with the star or glam girl

What do you think is a really good sweet sixteen theme to do in winter?

Me and my best friend are doing our sweet sixteen together and our parents budget is about 50 to 60 grand ( most likely lower). We are only two weeks apart(Nov22-Dec4) and we want to do it exactly in the middle date. I'm really girly and she's laid back more what do you think would work?

Which is your best method to dry fresh sweet basil for the winter?

From:

http://www.theepicentre.com/Spices/herbs...

"To dry basil, simply take young stems and tie them loosely in bundles before hanging them in a cool, dark and dry place. The leaves may then be stripped off and stored, either in jars or (as my neighbour did, with fragrant results) in brown paper bags in a kitchen drawer. In either case, use them quickly - no dried herb is ever at its best, and the longer they are left, the poorer they will be."

Which is your best method to dry fresh sweet basil for the winter?
Rinse, pat dry and freeze in resealable plastic bags. The basil will retain more flavor this way. Also, harvest in the morning before the sun "bakes" it...oils are at their max this time of time--catch the leaves before plants go into full bloom though. This will really deplete the flavor and color.
Reply:I use a dehydrator on a very low setting for 3-5 days depending on the humidity. If it is not too humid you could just tie up small bunches and let them dry in a dark place with good air flow.
Reply:chop it up and freeze it in ice cubes. keep those in a plastic bag, and add them to recipes as needed. dried basil is pretty worthless.
Reply:I've found that hanging basil to dry (as I do the rest of my herbs) doesn't work very well. The basil just sort of wilts and falls apart. A food dehydrator works VERY well, and only takes about 24 hours or so. If you don't have a food dehydrator, get some inexpensive furnace filters and lay them flat. Spread your basil leaves out on the filters, stacking them if you need to. Bungee cord them together, then bungee cord a simple box fan to the filters. Turn the fan on for 24 hours or so, and viola - basil you can use all year long!
Reply:Unless you are using it purely for fragrance, there's little point in drying basil. Try freezing it instead.
Reply:I haven't had luck drying it. I make pesto and freeze it in plastic bags. I have also heard of freezing some in an ice cube tray with olive oil. Then when frozen, dump the cubes into a plastic bag. I have not tried this but still have quite a bit of basil so maybe I will.

Trying to help cousin plan her Sweet 16th with a Winter Wonderland theme and I would love some ideas.?

She is getting aclub that is closed for the night and it is decorated in all white. We are going with white, silver, and pale blue. We need good ideas for food, favors, and activites.

Trying to help cousin plan her Sweet 16th with a Winter Wonderland theme and I would love some ideas.?
Rent an artificial snow maker and make it "snow" in the room --- would be AMAZING.

Have white foods - an ice cream sundae bar would also be neat. Favors might include a scarf and hat, custom mittens ... and you could turn that into an activity, as well. Provide inexpensive scarfs, hats, and mittens, then provide embellishments and things that guests can use to decorate their winter wear. Feathers, buttons, glitter glue ... things from a craft store. You'd be surprised that even the guys will get into this activity, everyone trying to outdo the others with their design.
Reply:~ use the colors white, silver, and light blues and purples

~use white christmas lights and put them around the room for fun decorations!

~freeze cups so they have a fun frosted look and get those fun plastic ice cubes that light up!

~put up snow flakes

hope this helps a little! have fun!

For me a really cool winter birthday party would involve skiing or snowboarding. Or a trip to an indoor gym with a sauna. If you have a party at home, you have to have hot drinks like cocoa and hot caramel apple cider like they make at starbucks!

maybe you could have some of your freinds go skiing with you... You could also have a big party and just have it in-doors. I knew a girl and for her sweet 16 she had it at a hotel and there was a DJ. It was like a hotel lounge place. it was pretty cool and not really huge...

How does one keep sweet potatoes over the winter?

I grew sever ormental sweet potato vines this summer. They produced sweet potatoes and i plan to plant them next spring.and want to store them .What is the best way.

How does one keep sweet potatoes over the winter?
I store my potatoes in straw.

If you don't have a lot of potatoes, use a cardboard box. Put a loose layer of straw (about 1 or 2 inches) and place the potatoes in a single layer. Cover with another layer of straw and so on.

Make sure the potatoes are sound (no blemishes or damage) and when you layer them, don't let them touch each other.

Put the box in a cool, dark and dry place. They should keep through the winter.

Sweet 16 ideas in winter and i want a dfferent not dance party?

My birthday is Christmas (December 25).

I have already had an ice skating party when i was turning 13.

I would love to go skiing but i dont think my friends are any good at it.

Any ideas for a winter wonder land sweet 16 party?

*get some spray-snow and "snow-up" the windows

*silver and white garland around doorways, banisters

*white or silver paper plates and clear plastic cups and utensils

*hot chocolate with marshmallows

*get a piece of blue fabric or a blue flat bedsheet and with the spray snow and maybe some silver spray paint or fabric paint, paint a snowflake background for pictures

*white cake with vanilla frosting and then dusted with shaved coconut so it looks like snow, or you can dust it with sugar crystals so it sparkles like snow if you don't like coconut

*find snowflake tablecloths or buy white/silver tablecloths

*bubble machines... since bubbles are shiny and float down like snowflakes would

*white or silver candles everywhere

*mounds of pillow stuffing in corners, sprinkled with some glitter

*white christmas lights everywhere

*christmas tree decorated in all white, silver, and light blue

I am having a winter wonderland theam sweet 16 party, and i can't think of fun party games we can play.?

Hello,

I was planning on doing one of these for my sweet 16th too, but changed my mind for this reason. I am now doing an Alice in Wonderland themed party. Here are some ideas that I did manage to think of though :)

Winter Trivia Game - Make up your own questions to do with winter or christmas

Winter Charades

Bob for Marshmallows - Hilarious!

Christmas gift pass the parcel - Try and make it less childish though

Candy Cane Connection - Buy a collection of candy canes and break them in half. Mix out the halves and hand them out to your guests. When all have arrived, have them try to find the other half of their candy canes! You can play this game with Christmas sugar cookies, too!

Winter Bingo - Make up Bingo cards before the guests arrive. Draw a grid. Then fill in with things related to Christmas, mixing them up for each card. For example, you might include: "Still hasn't finished shopping." "Is wearing red tonight.""Doesn't like eggnog." "Did the tree trimming." "Knows what's s/he's getting for Xmas." "Plans to return at least one gift." "Ate too much at the last party." "Bought a new outfit for tonight." "Knows all the reindeers' names." "Made figgy pudding once." "Sang carols this week." Make small cards to match the items on the grid. Gather the guests and hand out the cards, along with a handful of small Christmas candies. Pick a card from the pile and read the statement. If anyone can answer, "yes" to the comment, they get to put a candy in the square. The first person to connect five in a row wins a prize.

Gift Exchange - Get everyone to bring a random wrapped gift and exchange them with someone else.

Hope this helps and I hope you really enjoy your birthday party!

Combined Sweet 16 in winter?

My friend and I are doing a combined 16th birthday but we don't know what to do for it. About 50 people are attending (our classmates) but we are stuck, seeing as our birthdays are in winter. Have any clever ideas?

Combined Sweet 16 in winter?
i think this is a bad bad idea...i will mean that guys will get alot of the same gifts and i think you guys will get jealous of the other one if maybe this close friend of both of you spends more time w/ the other etc and it will also make a fight if one parent pays more then other because her daugther wants this but the other doesn't

just have your own parties maybe one one weekend the other the next your birthday is your day no one elses

this isn't MTV no one really has big parties like that
Reply:If you two have a big budget then you can rent a hall from the non profit organization. Then hire a DJ and let all your friends come for a dance party. You and your friend can feed the 50 with Pizzas and cake from Costco. You 2 aw some 16 need to bargain with the rent as well as get a 50% off from the DJ you are going to hire. Enjoy your party but, if you 2 ask the quests to bring cash for donation for the homeless instead of gifts Then you do well. Good luck and Happy new Year to you 2 .
Reply:A friend of mine is renting a hall, and having a formal dance, or a masquerade.
Reply:I think it would be awesome to rent a banquet room. Make it a dance, throw in a DJ, Maybe dance competitions..? Then Have the banquet hall serve dinner
Reply:same i have my 18 n im june 22nd n i cant go to the pool not hot not icestaking because ppl cant stake its sucks so we just have a drink up
Reply:You could always do a simple colored-theme! You could put lights around your entrance, have a two/three color thing going on, and have those same colored balloons fall over their heads or something. Or just throw the balloons into the crowd!

If you want simple, do colored and simple white christmas lights. And party, it's your sweet sixteen! Have fun!
Reply:Well, take it as an opportinuty to promote the winter theme. Have a dress-up party, theme, Winter.

Or do a penguin party where you have to come in something black or white.

Whatever you do, have fun!

found all my wool socks....almost done making a scarf/hood thing to keep my neck warm...still looking for my gloves and umbrella....

Is there a way to make cantaloupe &honeydew sweet tasting once picked, as winter fruit is not sweet?

..I have a fruit arrangement store and in the winter customers complain when the melon is not as sweet, or sweet at all, as in summer....is there anything to dip it in to help? Thanks...

Is there a way to make cantaloupe %26amp;honeydew sweet tasting once picked, as winter fruit is not sweet?
To make cantaloupe and honeydew sweet they have to spray borax on the flower when on the vine. It depends on your supplier if they do this when growing. If you do not spray the flowers on the plants while growing them, then they do not turn out sweet at all. No melon is sweet when picked green, it takes time to ripen it out. If your buyers would just wait till it is really ripe then it would naturally be sweeter tasting. Usually the over ripe melons taste the best but most people never wait that long before cutting it. I have worked in the grocery business and have grown my own melons. I did not know the first time I grew them that they had to be sprayed to get the sweet flavor and mine did not have any flavor to them the first year. After I started spraying the flowers they turned out sweet every time. If your supplier is picking the fruit way too quickly then they would turn out really green and maybe not get as sweet a flavor. I would ask your supplier why? maybe they could give you the best answer to your question since they grow them in the first place.
Reply:Little know fact - you can cook Cantaloupe and Honeydew - by cooking them the sugars heighten.

Method:

Cut in 1/2 and remove seeds

Apply butter to surface

Turn cut side down to cookie sheet and bake at 325 for 10 minutes - remove and sprinkle with Cinnamon or nutmeg - a yummy morning treat.

You could also cube and wrap in prosciutto, thin cut beef/turkey or pork bacon and broil for 5-6 minutes to cook meat and serve as addition to a winter salad or alone as an appetizer.

Hope this helped!
Reply:you could just let it ripen before selling it, it will sweeten up

Why do vegetables taste bitter in the summer and sweet in the winter?

someone told me that vegetables (ie. bok choy) are sweet in the winter because it has been hit by frost/snow. is that true?

also, wouldn't vegetables be sweeter in the summer because of more sunlight activating photosynthesis, which produces more glucose?

it's like when you cut grass in the summer that kind of sweet smell.

Why is the sky in the winter smells like water melon. or just sweet?
I love that smell. In the desert where I live when it rains it has that sweet smell too. Ahhhh so nice.
Reply:When you smell your nose is a like little chemistry set. It can smell the chemicals or lack of chemicals in the air. If your home has heaters that add chemicals or the floor cleaners add chemicals your nose adjusts to them so you cant smell them . When pure air arrives your chemistry tester does another test and starts with the chemicals from the house in the tester.

What are good ideas for a winter sweet 16 on a small budget?
Theme Party: Have a sock hop.

The dance studio I worked for had these about once a year and tons of people came. You have everyone dress like the fifties, have fifties tunes mixed in with your other dance music, have a hula hoop contest (a young hunky guy won ours-and no, he wasn't gay) a bubble gum blowing contest and Limbo contest. Hang singles (45s) from the ceiling and use old record album covers on the walls. If you have any singers in your group have them put together a doo-wop number, or lip sync a fifties tune for entertainment. With choreography.

This has always been a proven winner for us.
Reply:go to a really nice restaurant in your area or go ice skating and have a pic-nic with hot coco and make smores(yes, i know it would be cold but hopefully u would be bundled up really good). other than that i have no idea. good luck
Reply:Everyones idea of breaking the bank is different....But if you have 9 friends and ask them each to throw 20 bucks towards the party...and your parents match it....That would be enough for a limo full of snacks and sparkling apple juice {there are wine glasses in there!}....Then just bring all your best tunes and some bubbles to blow out the sunroof at the boys....360 bucks..That should get you 2 or 3 hours of tunes and cruisen!....Have fun!
Reply:hey, you can rent out a local public building for a night and have a bunch of friends come and you could have a dance.

so i have no idea what i want to do for my party, but my parents have made it clear that it is at my house and that it cant be too expensive. im inviting 35 people and at least 20 will probably make it. i want it to be fun and to be remembered. im trying to debate on a theme...im leaning toward winter wonderland...i also need stuff to do. i have a pool table and a playstation, but those both wont keep 30 people busy for 5 hours...PLEASE HELP ME!

thanks a lot!

What should i do for my winter sweet 16?
boys and girls?

winter wonderland.....if you have snow why not go sledding someplace close to the house, have a snowman building contest, or snow sculpture contest......those are the only things I can think of to relate to your theme besides decorating in blue and white with glitter....kind of boring, they will only remember it as a party.

find a more exciting theme if staying indoors at your house.

Rock Star Theme- dress as rockers or groupies, have karaoke contest, play music trivia, know anyone that has a band? have them put on a show

80's- dress in 80s, play trivia, play 80s music, 80s dance off competition

luau- Hawaiian theme, play limbo, hire a hula dancer to give lessons or a fire dancer to come put on a show, dress in summer attire, serve fruity drinks
Reply:have music on for dancing, have plenty of food out. maybe have a movie or 2 in reserve, set out games peoples can play in smaller groups, maybe set out a few disposable cameras so peoples can take pics. and don't worry, people will find stuff to do. chill!!! = )

Please any ideas for a winter sweet sixteen party?
I think it would be fun to go to a spa, or even have a spa night with manicures, pedicures, sauna, hot tub, maybe at a local hotel.
Reply:Happy Birthday! Turning 16 is an exciting time.

The best party is something that you and your friends think is fun to do. Maybe something here will appeal to you.

What about going for tea at a fancy hotel? If you live near a big city, most of the larger, ritzy hotels offer tea in the afternoon. This is more inexpensive than a meal -- but women get dressed up fancy for tea. It is very elegant and ladylike, very "girly". A fancy hotel is a beautiful place. Can be real fun -- feeling very grown up out on the town!

Or you could go ice skating! Many towns have an ice skating rink. That could be a lot of fun. Eat lunch before or afterward. It would probably be more inexpensive to eat at home, get takeout or have your parents cook.

A crafting party of some kind can be fun if your friends like crafts. You could make jewelry or tie dye t-shirts. Think of a craft that you'd like to do and get the supplies. Try the craft ahead of time to make sure you can do it. You'll need plenty of space and materials for everyone.

Have a great birthday! :)
Reply:you could have a henna party. my sister had that in november, and all her friends (there were about 10) had a lot of fun. just call them over, make some good food, and get a whole bunch of henna cones (you can get them at any indian store) and give them to the girls and they'll draw all over themselves. my sister's friends really liked it. also play some good music, and maybe put on a movie later when they get tired of using the henna

this also doesn't cost much, especially if you make your own food (henna cones aren't that expensive either)
Reply:Have a theme party, check http://www.pinatas.com/Theme_Party_Suppl... for more ideas.
Reply:anything really good costs money. How much are you willing to spend?

Maybe a bowling party? Pretty cheap. Have your friends bring their own food and snacks.

Winter Sweet Sixteen Ideas?

my birthday is in the beginning of December. What are some fun things to do for a sweet 16 around that time?

I live near mountains so i was thinking maybe snow tubing and then a bon fire at my house afterwards and then have a couple close friends sleep over.

good idea?

Anyone know some others?

Thanks.

I really like that idea.

You are so lucky to live near the mountains!

Do the snow tubing and maybe a snowball fight (it's still fun to this day and I'm about 5 years older than you).

Then, when you get home have the bon fire and make smores and possibly even grill your dinner over the fire. They should have these little grill things at like, Target, Walmart or even Home Depot that you can put over the fire to grill steaks, chicken or even just burgers and hot dogs.

(I'm sure you'll be hungry after all that outdoor activity!)

Also, have several kinds of hot chocolate on hand. Google "hot cocoa recipes" to find tons like mint cocoa, orange cocoa, cinnamon cocoa, etc.

Maybe you can even rent a screen and movie projector (call local photographers and videographer companies to find one) and play a movie outside. You can watch it near the fire if you just buy some cushions from your local thrift store for people to lay on, and supply blankets. Or, use the screen to do karaoke.

Then, if you have some friends sleep over after, do spa treatments, to take care of what all the rough weather that day did to your skin. Make face masks, body butter, etc.

If you want any more help, feel free to message me!

Any ideas for my Winter Wonderland Sweet Sixteen?!?!?

I LOVE the snow, and my sweet sixteen theme is Winter Wonderland. I have a low budget of about $500. At my school, everyone literally has massive sweet sixteens that they spend thousands on dollars on, but I still want mine to be nice. =( My party will be at home with about 25 people. Any ideas for decorations / invitations / games / music / new movies (that will be out this November)? =)

Any ideas for my Winter Wonderland Sweet Sixteen?!?!?
You may not be as spoiled as the other kids, but just feel lucky that you're lucky enough to have such (what most people would consider) a huge budget! It sounds like my wedding budget is far lower than the little spoiled brats' birthday parties' budgets... that's really disgusting. :( In the end, I think you'll be better off than them, as a person, so don't dwell on having such a "low" budget. Instead of dwelling on money, concentrate on having the time of your life and making beautiful memories with your family and friends to have forever - they'll be far more special than the crap that you could add to the party with thousands of dollars, and you're only young once so live it up - money or no money! Happy 16th!!!!
Reply:I say just have fun! Your finally 16! PARTY LIKE A ROCK STAR!

Reply:Well you could make a snow outdoor theme or a trip to the mall!

Reply:Winter wondeland would be cool. With glass or plastic ice crystals or icicles everywhere. You could use white and silver as your theme colors. You could use the silver strind garland as decor, fake fuffy snow, and silver glitter. You could even spray the mirrors and windows to look like they have frost on them. Good luck!
Reply:that is very exciting. maybe u should make everyone wear white and only she will wear red. and it can be lady in red theme with the song. u can also get ice sculptures or ice machines or anyhtign with ice to look more liek christimas. you can buy fake snow and put it on the floor where she will danceeee
Reply:Ice land. Make an igloo with a whole bunch of snow made stuff in it!! I tried that once and it worked and was also really fun to make. It might be a little hard to get all the snow balls on top of each other, but when you finish, all the work was worth it!
Reply:bring the tropics to the chill of winter!

grass skirts, inflatable palm trees, parrots and monkeys lol

beach balls

you can hang colored christmas lights (cheap in winter) and get or make lanters to hang too.

serve bbq foods or luau items buffet style!
Reply:That's awesome!

I think a good idea is to make at ice skating park! That would be so much fun. But it depends if you are going to have snow or not. :)

Another good one is if you make it at a inside water park!, because that way everyone will be thinking how fun summer was and they will enjoy your B-Day!!!

hope you have a nice party! :)
