I have a 1987 Ford conversion van with a 302FI and auto OD tranny with some slight running problems, over she runs good but a few things. When cold starting the engine usually stalls once or twice before idling down, also when giving it gas to accelerate it will sometimes hesitate and octane knock before downshifting out of overdrive into drive. She only has 70,000 miles on her and has never seen a winter, any ideas would be sweet.
Thanks, Jim S.
Ford 302 running problem?
use a higher grade of fuel..... or You may just need to open it up to clean the carbon build up.
Reply:When`s the last time it had a good tune up? It`s 20 years old, ign parts will degrade from sitting as well as from use.Change the air and fuel filters. Put in some Lucas upper cyl lube/injector cleaner and take it out for a 1hr drive without the od on, Sitting for long periods can cause unusuall problems that can be cleared up with a good run
Reply:the stalling could be alot of things, but the knocking would be timing. you need to retard your timing a couple of degrees, or run better gas.
Reply:Could be a sensor issue. A good tech can give you a better prognosis. Anyway, when vehicle are store during winter or long periods of time, the fuel breaks down and gums up on your system. You could have a clogged filter. See if changing fuel filters and some fuel injector cleaner in the gas tank will do the trick. That will be my cheapest approach for now. Inspect your air filter too and see if any critters made a nest inside the air box. You might be surprise the stuff that might crawl during the winter looking for a warm spot. Might sound far fetch but does not hurt to do a quick check.

I just found a calico cat, she's probably about 2-3 years old, and i have no idea what to name her.?
I found her the day before my birthday, and she is soo sweet, since it's winter here every time i go out in the barn she always jumps up on my lap and climbs inside my coat. She follows me everywhere but i cant think of a name, i was thinking Kasey because i love nascar and kasey kahne. I would name her callie but i already had a calico named callie, so i'm lost

How about Lucky, she is lucky, you know, lucky she found you.
Reply:I once had a calico cat that was so sweet. She would snuggle and purr. So I named her Calico, and so she remained until her death.
Reply:I believe that God lets us know what to name our cats. For instance, when I had a solid black cat I named him "Who" after Dr. Who and a neighbor of ours named their solid black cat "Spook" because she found him on Halloween. Both cats loved their names.
A little over a year ago, a kitten was brought to me from an abusive owner. The kitten was only 6 weeks old and an unnamed Siamese. She was the cutest little thing. I decided to name her Ling Ling - to this day , I don't why but she loves it and it seems to fit her.
As for your cat, there are a couple of books by Cleveland Armory called "The Best Cat Ever " and "The Cat Who Came For Christmas". He named his cats Marian and Polar Bear. Since it's winter where you are, you might consider naming your cat along those lines.
Good luck and God Bless !
Reply:This most definitely sounds like it's a cat. So I would call it a cat (or possibly Felis if you want it in latin) if I were you
calling it "dog" would be wrong, and possibly offensive

Have you tried to find her owner? Most likely if there is a barn, she was dumped and nobody will claim her, but it would be good to put a simple sign out front for a few days. Don't say too much. Found cat, owner describe will do very well. If anybody tries to claim her, ask for a picture. Watch the lost want ads.
Since she is female, please make sure she is spayed. Most often they get dumped cause they are in heat and somebody who took in a "free" kitten won't spend the money to spay.
Who ends up paying is the kittens she has, and their kittens.
Sorry to beat on that horse again, but it's a huge problem.....
Reply:Name her after where you found her.

Couples san souci or sandals dunns river?
trying to decide cause couples has a sweet special on ealry winter booking:
Couples san souci with a beachfront jaccuzi room
or sandals dunns river with just a premium room
both resorts run the same price, but with sandals i get two resorts for the price of one , but with the couples resort i get an intimate resort, mid 20's couple not big nightclubbers and going for 5 nights.
Couples san souci or sandals dunns river?
Sandals has much more lively things and better food and all. Couples is a very relaxed environment, though. Choose between total relaxation and liveliness.
Reply:I'd suggest Couples Swept Away in Negril.. I've heard the crowd at Dunns River is mostly older.. Never been there though, so I'm just going on what I've heard other people say. The Couples Swept Away is supposed to be the nicest of the Couples Resorts and our travel agent suggested that resort to us if we were going to stay at Couples. (we went with Sandals Whitehouse and couldn't have been happier).. ENJOY! I wish I was going on vacation soon!! ;)
Reply:I would go with sandals more for your money.
Reply:I been to 2 sandals resorts in Jamaica dunns river and whitehouse . Bith were amazing and the service you receive at Sandals is second to none.

What is Russian Compost?
I have read a gardening magazine in which it tells you to plant Sweet peas in the winter covered with "Russian Compost"
I have never heard of it!
What is Russian Compost?
"Russian compost" is similar to trench composting where the fresh vegetable material is buried in a hole or in a trench. I think that the theory that they are working with is that the decomposing plant material will generate heat and that will encourage plant growth by warming the soil sooner in the spring. What the heck, it's worth a try. Just remember that the seeds are planted over the compost deposits, not under them.

Reply:If my guess is right, it's the making a cold frame, and then putting "fresh" compost down as the bottom layer - compost that is not complete, and still generating heat from decomposition. Then you put 6 inches of soil on top, and plant in that. The heat from the compost will help the plants grow sooner than if you wait for spring to come.
This will work where there are mild-ish winters. It won't be able to compete with a deep, sustained, freeze.
Look up your source again - it shouldn't say to put the compost on TOP - but underneath.
Reply:Cat got it right, it goes under what you plant to heat the soil and is usually a little 'hot', or high in greens. Ive experimented with fresh cow manure and had good results. RScott

How do you feed?
Ok, this is a question, but not a question.
How much do you feed your horse a day? And why?
I’m not trying to start a fight, or say someone’s wrong and someone’s right, I’m just curious. From reading some answers on here, I’ve noticed that a lot of people feed their horses differently. Not just hay and grain, but amounts. So I was wondering why.
I personally feed my horse two flakes (big, but not huge) of oat hay a day in the summer, alfalfa in the winter. Plus his hoof supplement. And sometimes cob or sweet cob in the winter. We have mild weather where I live, except heat, it can get really hot here, and he has an acre of grass to himself. He’s in good condition.
(And for those of who you’ll have something to say, he does have company.)
How do you feed?
Where I live i feed my horses alfalfa in the morning and oat pellets at night (they don't eat straight oat hay). I give my older horse senior grain to help his joints and coat. I sometimes give coat supplements to the others as well, but those are expensive. i used to feed straight alfalfa but that's bad for them, so i switched :)
Reply:We have 65 horses at my farm so each horse gets a custom feed plan designed for them. Some of them get no grain all year, some of them get grain all year long, some of them get hay all year, some of them get hay only in the winter (our grass dies completely during the winter). We are in a mild climate, lows usually no colder than 25 and hots not usually more than 95. Humidity is what kills us in my area.
The thing about feeding is that each horse is different in what they need nutritionally and what they can digest. Older horses when they can no longer eat hay easily need to be given a senior feed that is a complete feed with the forage (hay) in it so that they can get what they need.
Younger horses need more protein, vitamins, and minerals because they are still growing, but if you give them too much then they will grow too fast and could potentially get OCDs. Mares that are in foal or who are lactating will also need more. Stallions during breeding season will also need more, and so will horses in heavy training.
On average a horse should receive 1/2 to 1% (sometimes more depending on their job) of their total body weight in feed per day depending on what they are doing (pleasure, showing, breeding, lawn ornament, etc.). That means a 1000 pound animal will receive 20 pounds total a day if they are just being ridden lightly and to 40 pounds a day if they are working for 2 hours a day 4 days a week on average. It also depends on the quality of the grain and hay that you feed. If you use lesser qualities of these, you will end up having to feed more. Of this 80% at a minimum should be in forage and 20% or less should be in grains. That is for a horse that is in good condition already. If they are in poor condition they must start out slowly with little of both (if they have not had access to feed or hay) and then build them up to where they are gaining weight slowly. Gaining weight too quickly will cause lots of problems potentially including founder and laminitis.
Alfalfa is actually hard for some horses to digest, finer bermudas get caught in their digestive system and can cause a block or choke, and local grass hay (like from your neighbor or your own field) usually does not have the nutrients in it that a horse needs. When you talk about hays you talk about the RFV (relative food value). The higher the number the better the hay. This is something that your county extension agent can do a test for to find out the answer. Below 90 means that your horse is not getting what they need, 90 to 100 means that they are getting a little of what they need, a100 is an ok hay, a 110 to 120 is a good hay, over a 120 is pretty nice hay. If a hay is giving them most of what they need, that leaves grains up to giving them added energy, vitamins, and minerals.
When feeding grains always look at the labels of the feed. if it has grain meal (without a specific listed) or grain by-product (without a specific listed) DO NOT feed the feed. That means that the feed is not a fixed formula feed. That also means the the feed company can change which ingredients that they use according to what is cheapest on the market at the time. They are all about saving money but there are lots of feeds out there which are a fixed formula feed. I know this because we owned a feed store for several years and talked to the nutritionists for the top feed companies in the US.
The best thing to do if you are interested in how to feed horses and how you figure out what you feed your horse is to get some books on feeding and read. Read every article that you can find too, and ask your vet and your feed dealer questions about feeds. You can also probably find feeding and nutrition classes at your 4-H office or at other groups in your area. There is a very specific feed formula equation to use to find out exactly what you need to feed a horse based on how much energy they will be using, their size, their age, and the feeds (grains and hays) that you have available to use. Just because a horse is in good shape weight wise does not mean that they are getting what they need nutritionally. Often you do not realize that there is a problem until after they develop a disease or condition because of a deficiency.
Hope that helps.
Reply:I feed my horses with a pitchfork from big round bales, and generally just give them three big piles, and an extra bunch for good measure. As long as they clean it up each day, I know I'm not overfeeding, and they look round and sassy, so I don't think I'm underfeeding them.
I sometimes turn them out on grass for an hour or two, but not every day. Also, I feed a small amount (a pound, split between the three of them) of 12% sweet feed just for a treat. I am a firm believer in not giving riding horses too much grain or they'll act naughty. That's how I feed, and I don't care if others feed differently...my horses are healthy.

Reply:I have two horses. My old QH gelding LOVES his stall, so is turned out during the day and in the stall at night. He gets free-choice grass while turned out, and two flakes of grass hay during the night in addition to a couple of pounds of sweet feed.
My paint mare is turned out 24/7 on pasture with a run-in shelter. In the winter when there is no grass, she gets free-choice grass hay. When she's worked hard, I give her a few pounds of sweet feed per day.
Both have access to a salt/mineral block at all times.
Reply:i let my horse eat freely in a pasture all summer, just salt and mineral supplements. in the winter they eat free choice hay. they are a little over weight but not obese. i only trail ride on weekends so they are not in competition or under alot of training.
Reply:it depends on the size, and if he is too skinny or too fat.
u might wanna ask the vet.
there are also special types of grain and things for specail disaplines... a race horse would eat different than a show horse...
Reply:Well my family usually feed Horseman's Edge by purina pellet feed 2x a day and 1 flake of hay when the horses are being kept in their stall during the night, or day if there is bad weather. But right now, in Texas, there has been tons of rain, which is keeping the grass from drying out and dying, so we keep them out all the time on 10 acres. Because they are getting so much grass my family is just feeding them 1x a day.
Hope this helps!

My mare gets 7 lbs alfalfa hay morning, 10 lbs grass hay %26amp; 1/3 cup Strongid C2x evening
All of the horses I feed get something approximating this based on their age, weight and activity level.
Reply:I have a quarter horse, and she eats like your horse but she also received two scoops of Purina Sweetina in the morning and evening. (You didn't mention grain for yours.)
It is, of course, very important not to change the horse's diet too rapidly or too frequently, as they can become colicky. Treats should be limited, and apples should be pealed, quartered, and have the seeds removed.
Reply:We have this bucket(im not sure how much it measures) that we fill up and we add a little more than a tablespoon of mineral powder and a little more than a tablespoon of garlic powder.
The garlic powder works GREAT for keeping flies away!
Reply:My mare has a month-old foal, so she's getting about 12 pounds of Nutrena Safe Choice a day plus 3 or 4 handfuls of chopped alfalfa at each feeding and Mare Plus twice a day, and free choice hay since my horses have very little grass.
My gelding gets hay, 4 lbs of Safe Choice, and 2 handfuls of alfalfa at each feeding.
The vet says they're both doing great and are at healthy weights.

Reply:My horse gets 1 lb. of Lite Balance 12% protein 6% fat pellet to help her keep off the weight and be more energetic. in the AM she also gets cortaflex and MSM to help with joint issues.
Shes in during the day so she gets 6 lbs. (2 Flakes) of homegrown coastal bermuda hay with her morning feed and then another flake at 12 and another flake at 2
she gets the same feed at night minus the supplements and is on turnout all night long

- 11 lbs bermuda grass hay, 1.75 lbs 10%, 1.75 lbs 14%, 1/3 cup Strongid C2x in the evening
My colt gets - 9 lbs bermuda grass hay, 2.5 lbs 14 % protein pelleted feed supplement morning and night plus 1/4 cup Strongid C2x in the evening

Daughter coughing at night
I’ve completed a search on this subject however it seems as though I’m hitting road blocks at every turn. The year before last my 6 year old (4 at the time) starting coughing toward Mid winter and never really stopped until early summer. Last year the same thing around xmas she started and little relief until early summer. Now this year it was the same. Over the last there years we’ve had all kinds of testing and she’s been on all kinds of meds. We’ve had her in for allergy testing twice first at four then this year again both times nothing. The Docs have had her on pretty much every med, we have a nebulizer and all the complimenting drugs, albuteral etc… No real significant change. We took her off all meds because nothing helped. After a few months of the symptoms this year she got a CT and the docs diagnosed with Sinus infection (I’m not sure if this was just a last ditch to allay a parents frustration) the cough did seem to subside however with warmer weather calming of the cough was predicted. It’s gradually getting better now that it’s getting warmer out however last night the cough starting kicking back up, was a cooler night than it’s been. I was starting to think the issue was related to the furnace however it never turned on last night. Also I had a professional outfit come in and clean everything ducts carpet etc. Upgraded her air purifier from a 100 dollar unit to a 200 dollar unit. Some of the info I’ve read on ionization is contradictory and seems unproven. Additionally if that were the issue, specifically related to the furnace (positive charge on the air due to it being forced through vents) last night I would have expected the cough wouldn’t have been aggravated as it never ran. We’ve been to an ENT they put her in the hospital for testing ruled out obstruction, GERD, tumor, underdevelopment etc..
So according to the docs (all of them we’ve been to) we’ve got an otherwise healthy kid that mostly coughs at night from what I believe to be a post nasal induced whooping/Croup like cough. So bad it literally keeps us awake (mostly thinking about how I’m failing as a parent)…
Between the research and specialists and lack of results I’m literally thinking of relocating my family to warmer climate before next winter to avoid witnessing this sweet kid endure another winter where her stomach, back, sides hurt due to coughing… She sleeps so poorly she gets wiped out then catches whatever the latest cold is which only complicates things. Last idea the doc had was perhaps we should send her to a voice therapist. That is getting little merit seems as though if it were a condition related to speech we’d see a decrease of activity at night not an increase.
Help a desperate dad.?
It sounds like she might have vasomotor rhinitis. I don't know if any of the doctor's mentioned it, some doctors don't take it seriously. But, believe me, it can have a big effect on quality of life. Unlike allergies (allergic rhinitis) it affects the throat more than the sinuses, although it affects both. It is aggravated by dry air, I've gone though winters when I had to take a cough suppressant every night (dextromethorphan is pretty effective for me, but at times nothing helps). My main symptom is a sore throat.
Basically, with vasomotor rhinitis, you react to all kinds of small particles in the air. Smoke, perfumed products of all kinds, chemicals, are all big offenders.
Air filters don't really help. I still run air filters at night, but just because I've gotten used to the white noise. I used the ionic breeze for a while, but eventually stopped because I felt it was making things worse, not better (I even had the "ozone guard").
What has helped me is getting the irritants out of the house. I don't know what you use in your house, I'll list some of the things that bother my condition the most (and after you read all this, you might want to try moving south after all. ;O)
-- It probably goes without saying that no one in the household can smoke. Even if you only smoke outside, the scent stays in clothing and hair.
-- Dryer sheets are a big offender. When I get clothes from eBay, they almost always have strong detergent and dryer sheet smells, and I have to wash them a minimum of 6 times before I can wear them. (I stopped using dryer sheets altogether long ago, so I can't tell you if unscented ones are OK, or if the problem is the fabric softener itself.)
-- You should use unscented laundry soap (I usually use All Free and Clear). And don't use bleach, it's an irritant (particularly bad if you use it on her sheets).
-- If anything is worse than dryer sheets, it's carpet freshener and air fresheners. I first started to notice I had a problem when I slept on a mattress on the floor of a room where a sprinkle on/vacuum up carpet freshener had been used. And I can't believe some of the commercials on TV now for all kinds of Glade and stuff, ones that alternate between 2 different scents, ones that are heated. You can't have any of this stuff in the house.
-- Get all perfume and cologne out of the house, never wear them. They are really too strong to be nearby, even if they aren't directly on her.
-- Any soaps she uses herself should be unscented, and I'd say anything you use should be unscented or only mildly scented. Even the "masking scents" in unscented products are stronger than the used to be, we're getting to be a very stinky society! If you can't find unscented products locally, try Needs.com http://www.needs.com/ or do online searches. Hair spray in particular is an irritant, you can get a non-aerosol one at needs.com
-- Lysol. I think all the new scents they've come out with are even worse than the original.
-- In general, try to avoid heavily scented cleaning products, although this it more difficult as time goes by, since everything has a "clean, fresh scent!" Well, if you notice the smell "lingers" with a particular product, quit using it.
-- If you have a fire place, it is probably best not to use it. You could try it in the future if you manage to get her problems under control.
-- I started using a pest control service after we had a little trouble with ants. Their formula gives me a headache, so I only have them spray downstairs (the bedrooms are upstairs). Sometimes I only have them spray outside and in the basement.
(I've heard gas heat can be a problem, although that's what we have now and it doesn't seem to bother me.)
Does she have a humidifier in her room? They can provide relief, although you don't want the environment too moist since it can promote mold growth. I don't current use one. But if using one helps her to stop coughing for a while to get some sleep, I'd say it's worth it.
Even with my efforts, the past couple years, I'd gotten to the point that colds always hung on for two months. And the coughing was ridiculous, all my muscles ached and it went on for weeks and weeks, like you are saying with your little girl. I was afraid to go out most of the time, for fear of having a coughing fit somewhere in public. And it seemed like every time I left the house, I caught a virus.
My husband picked up some Airborne gummies to try himself, and I so I gave it a try. I know I sound like a fanatic, but I can't begin to tell you how much this has helped my quality of life. I take it daily as a supplement, whether I feel sick or not. It doesn't completely prevent me from getting colds, but now my colds only last a week or two like a normal person. And no heavy coughing that goes on and on and on. I'm able to stay active through most of the cold. I know they make it for kids, too, if she hasn't tried it, I'd highly recommend you give it a try (take daily).
This is just a little thing, but I've always found a carbonated beverage stops a coughing fit better than water. I don't know why.
Even though I've written a novel, I'm probably forgetting something, so I'll edit if I think of something else. You can Google "vasomotor rhinitis" for more info, although the advice isn't always good.
No matter what you decide to do, good luck to your little girl, to you, and to the rest of your family. Take care.

Reply:Surely they've tested for asthma ? You don't mention it, though the drugs you used are for asthma. Asthma often presents as a cough. Gas fired heating is no good for asthmatics.
It's rare, and the cough would always be there if it's TB.
Only thing that cured my cough was seneca and ammonia cough syrup - real old fashioned, tastes terrible, but worked.

Try to video tape her while she sleeps and call a specialist for sleep deprivation. They might keep her overnight and they will test her while she sleeps and coughs. Good luck to you.
Reply:My nephew had the same cough for many years. Also had many tests. My great niece the same thing. It sounded horrible. wheezing and honking like a goose. Well, time went on and he was never sick, just the terrible night time cough. when he was 8 it began to subside, 9, 10, 11, less and less, now at 14 he rarely ever coughs like that. My niece is now 8 and her cough is going away also. Isn't is frustrating and weird? I wish you well, and can say in my experience they dissipate with time. good luck
Reply:I'm sorry I have no idea what it is, but you could try using a Netty pot on her before you put her to bed. It's just a teapot looking pot that you use to pour saline solution through her sinus to clean them out. I have heard that they work wonders on people suffering from allergies, better than any allergy medication. It may help keep her from coughing so much. They are inexpensive and worth a try since nothing else is working! I wish you all the best in finding a solution to her problem!
Reply:I'm sorry she's suffering without any relieve to make her feel better.
As far as I was aware coughing at night is a sign of asthma and needs medication to control it but it does take time for the right medication to be found which suits the patient. I've been asthmatic for over 10 years now and I'm still being changed about on my inhalers because of them not agreeing with me.
Moving to a warmer climate seems to be a last resort sort of thing because uprooting your family is a tough decision to make.
Reply:I'm not sure what the problem is since I'm not a doc, but I can tell you this: childhood coughing (especially the deep in the chest coughing) will cause scar tissue on the lungs. As she gets older, she will be more succeptible to bronchial problems. The older she gets (30's - 50's) and the more scarring done to her lungs leaves her a candiate for lung cancer. Please find a doctor who can get this under control.
Reply:From the sounds of it, you don't need a whole lot of help, you need reassurance. As I was in the middle of reading, I too thought that moving to a warmer climate would be a viable solution, but then you mentioned that as possibly being in the works also. Not sure where you are located at right now, but I have been looking around for work (if that's a concern of yours) and North Carolina is looking like a nice prospect. It's not quite Florida or Southern California warm, but it sure beats a Michigan-type winter.
Wish the best of luck to you and your family. Again, though, you are doing all you can for your child. The feeling of helplessness is only natural, but don't feel for one moment that you are a failure as a father.
Reply:Watch her sleep. Does she breathe thru the mouth? If so, she is drying out her throat and that could start the cough. Put a humidifier in her room and see if it helps the cough. Dry cool air going in thru the mouth over a period of hours would make anyone cough. Even if you don't pick my answer as best, see if this is the case anyway-doesn't hurt to watch her and it may be the problem. Simple remedies first-then go to more complicated answers.

Do cold winters really make turnips sweeter?
If it's too cold, it won't. But yes, you want just the tops to freeze, which forces the sugar down into the rest of the plant.
Do cold winters really make turnips sweeter?
yes. it turns the starch to sugar.
Reply:I would say no since during a cold winter means an early start in the growing season and maybe blunt the full maturity of the turnip and end up with less sweet turnip greens.
However if a turnip is near total maturity and it gets a touch of cold weather that may activate enzymes that may appear to the taste buds as sweeter.
Reply:some plants need cold to grow well
Reply:No, but sugar does! I like to put hickory bacon in mine and it helps to give them better taste.

Can you report your daily local news for the day?
I am sick of the national news. What happened in your neck of the woods today?
Well I am happy to report that in my neck of the woods the heat wave continues and many continue to savour the taste of the heat because we all anticpate that winter will be bitter sweet. Traffick is light and you can literraly hear the groans of the civil servants on tehir way to the dulldrum jobs. Back to you.

Guy trouble...???!!!?
after a few weeks of knowing ea. other he asked me to be his gf. I declined because 1 My parents don't allow me to have a boyfriend (I'm going to be 16) 2 I wasn't ready for a relationship yet 3 I wasn't sure about what I wanted.I told him the reasons why and he told me, he would wait.then after a few weeks,I noticed I was
confused about what i felt for him so i told him and he got depressed and confessed to me that i had been the girl he had waited for the most (2 months),that he was tired of waiting, and that he had several other girls ask him out but he had been waiting for me all this time, this made me depressed as well because i was hoping he would be patient with me.My parents
haven't met him yet,i was hoping I'd introduce them to him at my sweet 16 party.Winter Formal is coming up and i'm going with him as friends i was thinking about what i really want and it's to be with him,so i've decided to ask him to be my boyfriend on that day.my plan was to introduce him as a friend to my parents even though we would be going out and eventually my parents would be cool with him and let me officially go out with him.I don't know if it would work out though. What should I do?
Guy trouble...???!!!?
You need to obey your parent's rules. You live in their home. They provide your every need. Maybe you can talk to them about the age at which you can date. Ask them if they could bring it down a year. Tell them you really like someone and want to date him WITH THEIR APPROVAL. Ask if you can invite him over, so they can get a look a this guy. Maybe they are afraid of certain things people get involved with while dating. If they will allow you to date, ask what the limits are. If they are strict with you about no dating at all, that is something you will just have to accept while you live under their roof.
Reply:2 months is a long time to wait for someone? Since when? He sounds a little impatient to me. I'd steer clear of him. He pressured you and guilt tripped you, acting depressed because you were being true to your heart. And after that you've suddenly decided you want to be with him? He's manipulated you honey.
Reply:that would totally work. im younger than 16 and ive already had 3 boyfriends( each on lasted at least 4 months) and my parents were perfectly fine with it as long as the guy knew the fam well and were very polite. parents have to trust he's a good guy. it for your sake. so let them check him out for awhile i dont know why but they are so protective sometimes, sheesh! ha.
Reply:I think that, that will like totally work out great.
Reply:You should invite him to your sweet 16th birthday party and introduce him to your parents and tell them that you REALLY like him and he REALLY likes you and ask them if they will let you guys date!!!! (but before you invite him, tell him your plan and also tell him that you like him so he knows to wait a little longer for you) Hope i helped!!!
GOOD LUCK!!!!
Reply:it sounds like an ok plan but make sure he understands the plan!!!!!!!!
Reply:Do you really like him that way. If so there shouldn't be a problem. If you feel like you don't know him well enough, or don't trust him yet, then wait. Don't feel pressured by others, do what you want to do.
Reply:You COULD have ruined it. not that its your fault, but sorry...
you should tell him you like him as soon as possible if you really like him, regardless if your parents know yet or not.
you caNT let the ones you like go.
so good luck with ur relationship :)
Reply:That idea sounds awesome actually. You should really take the chance and go out with him. If he's been waiting for almost 2 months for you, he is REALLY loyal and caring and you can't find many guys like that.
Good luck!

Whats red and white and is shaped like an upside down hook?
You can get it mainly during the winter holidays its sweet and all little kids like to eat it.
Whats red and white and is shaped like an upside down hook?
A peppermint candy cane.

Or a hook that you have upside down and you've painted red and white because you're going to hang something from it that matches those colors and they only allow you to paint in December because the sanitarium you're in has really, really mean nurses, and those crazy little kids you're in there with think your upside down, red and white painted hooks look good so they are constantly trying to eat them, but then their teeth break and you get in more trouble cause they blame their bad teeth on you.

Check My Poem?
I'm a Chinese student who is learning English language.
I wrote a poem in English,
but I 'm afraid there should have been severar mistakes in it.
My Struggle
Stars twinkling,
Moonlight casting,
Every sleepless night,
witnessing my course of struggle.
Slight slight wind of spring night,
took on whose tender love?
Soft Soft rain of summer night,
brought back whose deep missing?
Ringing ringing grasshopper,
playing praise song of the autumn.
Kindle kindle silver candle,
frame out warm sentiment of the winter.
Sense of sweet,
Sense of aupicious,
All scenes of poetic flavor.
But warmth is others,
and I've nothing.
I just want every sleepless night,
witness my course of struggle!
Thank you for checking my pome, sincerely!

How could you decorate for?
how could you decorate for a winter wonderland themed sweet 16? also, any other ideas for anything else?
How could you decorate for?
white batting (fabric store) draped over the entrance, topped w/ little white lights to shine thru the batting. Little white lights everywhere: trees, bushes, pot plants, topiaries....
Decorate w/ just white and silver, maybe light ice blue. Silver utensils, serving dishes, white tablecloth, snowflake ornaments lying around, etc.
Reply:I was at a winter wedding and they bought these crystals that you can buy for cheap at a craft store and hung them at different levels from the celing with clear wire. Also you can tint the walls using blue light bulbs. Buy a huge bag of gliter and sprinkle it on thick onto the tables. For centerpeices use white roses or white flowers in a vase with no water just ice or if you have it snow.
Reply:Dress--- For you, wear a big puffy white dress, with soft white cotton on the bottom, and have an icicle crown; you can be the ice princess. For the girls, they can be winter fairies with little white dresses, with little light blue wings. For the boys, they can be snowmen, i guess.
Decor--- have everything white or light blue with snowflakes and cotton balls on the walls. And have 3-d snowflakes hanging from the ceiling.
Entrance--- have the door all white and light blue with snowflakes and cotton balls on the door and when someone comes in start sprinkling little silver stars on them. Make sure to leave out the mistletoe because it just makes your party really awkward.
Tables--- Have light blue or white tablecloth and sprinkle the silver stars on it.
Cake--- Buy a white cake and put hard sugary edible snowflakes on it.
Hope this helps!!!!! Have fun!!!!!!
Reply:CHRISTMAS!!!!!!! trees, snowflakes, ornaments, santa, presents, sleigh entrance
p.s. watch sweet 16 on mtv for more ideas someone did winter wonderland

Trimming my thighs?
I'm wondering, is pilates making my thighs more beastly?! I do pilates (30 min) and nordic track everyday in the winter... I live in the Northeast and can't really run or walk outside in the cold months. I know people gain weight in the winter, but this is making me crazy. I want to get rid of the chub rub and lovehandles stat! I'm really good about my diet, I'm vegan, gluten free... I eat lite tofu, brown rice cereal, fruit (grapefruit, peach, plum, nectarine, cherries, strawberries, starfruit, apples only), and an astonishing amount of vegetables... (brocoli, a limited amount of carrots/beets, spinach, swiss chard, peppers, tomatoes, summer squash every now and then I'll have winter squash or sweet potato or eggplant) vegan soy cheese or soy patties every now and then, and brown rice protein powder. I don't use sugar or artificial sweeteners. I use stevia, and yet STILL my THIGHS.
Trimming my thighs?
i think if you try some cardio kickboxing, that would help, i knoe it's hard to go out there try to burn calories and it's freezing,
that's what i do during winter, cardio, mountain climbers, squats, lunges, and donkey kicks.......to shape your thighs.
gkeep up with the good diet and determination and you'll be fine
good luck!
Reply:i have that same problem. im just like you as well with my eating habits 2 (u sound better than it at me), but i do squats and jogs and walks and verything imaginable and i still have chubby legs. i talked to my dad about it and he said it runs in my family so that might be the case with u 2. as for the pilates, i would think that once you do them for a while they will start toning down. good luck
Reply:I would recomend that you go to you tube and look up ntural wieght loss programs because there is a great program on there. Just GO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!...

"sweet nectar"
Winter is bright,
darkeness is dread,
Let yourself be
lulled by cold winds of
the dead.
I gasp and nothing
appears.
Your devine
scarlet nectar,
My loodied lips,
Look just for
yours
perfect lust,
ecstatic pleasure.

Hi DP: You know, I really like your poetry, but this darkness you play around with is a game for you that you don't understand, and someday it's doing to hurt you, bad. Get out of it. You don't need it. All you need it a big bomb to go off inside of you that explodes love and confettti, and then you laugh and giggle like a kid. Your kid comes out in all your poetry: that's one of the things that makes you, actually, a very good poet. But, dark = no. You're just looking for something that's not hypocritical, that's cool and real. But get this, the darkness is all a lie. Don't get suckered into the big meat grinder, please. please

Returning vegetarian looking for diet tips?
I was vegan for a while, but I packed on pounds and had no energy. I've returned to vegetarian, but now I don't know what to do/eat... I have to keep my weight down for work. need to lose 10lb stat!
1. I'm wondering if I cut out starchy carbs (like brown rice, sweet potatoes, winter squash, pumpkin) and add back in nonfat dairy (skim milk, non fat ricotta, non fat plain yogurt) plus egg whites, 4-5 servings of fruit (plums, apples, grapefruit, strawberries), and the rest veggies (broccoli, swiss chard, spinach, zucchini, peppers, onions, mushrooms, lettuce, tomatoes, carrots), flax seed, will that work? I'm cutting out sugar, flour, part or whole fat dairy.
2. I'm worried, will dairy make me gain weight? what is the best creamy option : milk (80 cal 0 fat), unsweetened soy milk (90 cal 4.5 fat), unsweetened almond milk (40 cal, 3.5 fat)?
3. I'm exercising but need to strengthen my knees and lower back, they're not pleased about the return to running season. Thanks guys for help

Vegan turned Vegetarian needing help with transition?
I was vegan, but I packed on pounds and had no energy, even though I ate healthy. I've returned to vegetarian, which was very hard for me to do. Choking down my first omlet nearly brought me to tears. But I had to do this for my health, only now I don't know what to do/eat... I have to keep my weight down for work. need to lose 10lb stat!

Dairy making you gain weight is dependent on the type of dairy you're eating. I believe skim milk is the best option for milk. Buy the skim milk cheeses when you want cheese, but don't overdo it on cheese. Even the low fat cheeses are bad for you if you eat them every day.
Egg whites are definitely better for you than eating the whole egg. The yolk has 90% of the fat in it.
I'd suggest eating as much fruit as you want. I think your list of starchy foods is pretty good. It would be good to lay off them.
Good luck :)
Reply:Vegetarians do not eat eggs, i have this argument with my bf daily, i dont care of there is a special name or anything. Its all about moderation, brown rice is a lot better than white, and all the other carbs u mentioned are excellent in moderation. U might want to cut down on the fruit intake though if u are worried about weight. Best of luck.
Reply:it doesn't matter what you eat its the calories
get a calorie counter book and add them up
it doesn't matter the source
or if its carbs or protein the body isn't very discriminating
it is a simple formula
more calories than you expend you put on weight less calories than you expend and you take off weight
Reply:non fat milk is your best option.
Starches aren't bad with moderation. it will turn into energy, you just have to move around enough to use it or it will store as sugar which then turns to fat.
good luck! I'm Vegetarian and sticking to my vegetarian diet and eating 6 SMALL portions a day I have lost 16 pounds already!
Reply:I believe soy has more protein per unit than diary which is also higher in fat. You can always use soy milk and make tofu scramble. I believe when it comes to weight issues dairy would be more of a concern.
I've mentioned this over and over again concerning weight issues but there is no substitute, again no substitute for eating right and exercise. Going vegetarian instead of vegan will not help.
I suggest eating many small meals a day which stimulates your metabolism and will not make your body go into starvation mode. Also increase the amount of complex carbs, proteins, and fiber into your diet. Eat brown rices and whole wheat instead of white. Eat a lot of green leafy vegetables which have fiber as well as whole fruits. Avoid the juices they are almost purely sugar.
If all this does not work it may be possible you are hypo thyroid. You could eat next to nothing and still gain weight. If this is the case try natural herbal supplementation. Gaia makes a veggie liquid pill that is great called thyroid support. If this does not work you may have to resort to conventional medicine. But I would use this as a last resort.
Best of wishes : )
