If you don't feel the cold are you more susceptible to hypothermia ?

My husband insists he doesn't "feel cold" outside in the winter. Does that make him less likely to get hypothermia, or more likely? How do I get the dear sweet nutball to wear something more then shorts in the winter?

If you don't feel the cold are you more susceptible to hypothermia ?
I would say not to worry so much. It is considered very good for the health in a lot of places. In japan they have schools where the kids go around in shorts all year and they say that they actually have better health.

Some people actually have excess body heat that causes health problems and they can feel better and be healthier if they let themselves get a bit cold. I am one of them. And i also find that if i keep myself warm like everyone else thinks i should then i get sick from overheating.

Unless you actually have some experience of him making himself sick i think you would do better to let him be.
Reply:Yes.
Reply:You are his wife, not his mother. If he wants to wear shorts in the winter, it's his b***s that will freeze.
Reply:Shorts are a bit extreme in NY winters but, we have some resident nuts here, I laugh hard when they get caught outside with blue legs when the temp drops quick, and yes hypothermia can set in when you feel warm, 60*F water does this when you go swimming, you still get it, get him a down vest (thats what I use) arms are free, and it's NOT restricting, easy to throw on, will prevent him from freezing to death if he gets caught outside (LIKE IF THJE CAR BREAKS DOWN DURING A RAINSTORM AROUND 45*F)
Reply:That is one of the problems with children, because they don't feel cold like adults..so I would think it would pertain to an adult that doesn't feel cold as well..
Reply:I think you are more likely to suffer because you don't realize that you are cold so you won't get away from the cold environment or put on a jacket or something similar.
