Evil sweets and junk food cravings at night...?

Well, I am currently trying to shed some pounds that I had gained over the winter time. I don't really have some strict, well thought out plan that guides my every eating time. I'm just cutting back on the amount I eat and trying to eat healtheir, ie fruits, vegetables, lean meat, bread, no junk food or candy, no fast food, and etc. This all goes well but then late at night, its always around 9 or so, I just get these huge cravings for like, chocolate, cookie dough, cookies, brownies, or anything sweet and unhealthy. I just cannot fight these urges so I give in and pig out. This totally ruins my day and my whole purpose of dieting. Its happeend 4 days in a row now. Can anyone help me with this? How can I fight these cravings? I live with my parents so I can't really get rid of all this junk food, so you know. Can anyone help?

sleep early den :-)
Reply:Cravings are actually your body telling you you're not getting enough of some nutrient...however, the foods you crave are not the only ones that can satisfy that physical nutritional need.

In other words, if you crave a donut, what you really need is sugar...and what's wrong with having some fat-free jell-o or some frozen yogurt instead? Find low-fat or low-calorie versions of your favorite snack foods and eat those.

Another idea is to eat dinner later so there's no way you can be hungry by 9PM. Just eat a snack or two between lunch and dinner and you should be fine.

You should also talk to your parents about this, because they can be a great help. Ask them to make you lower fat or calorie meals...and then maybe you can eat some of that stuff you're craving. This will benefit them, too, and shouldn't be too difficult.
Reply:try this!!
Reply:i would go with the answer above me that he says to eat low fat or sugar free snacks. and i saw on Oprah and they were talking about these late night cravings also. they said that u need to try NOT to eat after 8 pm!! if u feel like u are getting those cravings, its cuz ur body is used to eating all that sugar sweet stuff. after a while your body is gonna get used to you NOT eating jusnk food and will "eat" the fat that u have...in other words, thats how u will shed some lbs. off. i have tried it and i lose about 1-2 lbs. a week. with excersing %26amp;%26amp; eating well portioned meals. i hope this helps.
